The vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a form of weight loss surgery in which about 85% of the stomach is removed thus leaving a shape of cylindrical type or sleeve type stomach. The main drawback of this form of surgery is that it not always helps in reduction in weight and sometimes works in the opposite manner such as resulting in weight gain. The procedure involved stapling of the stomach so the risk attached with the stapling is also to be faced by the patients.

The patients who have a high body mass index or are extreme overweight other weight loss surgery is highly risky to perform as a result vertical sleeve gastrectomy is found to be recommendable and also with the case where patients are having low BMI or anemic in nature this surgery is prove to be profitable in their long run.
