Relation Between Colon Cancer & Symtoms Of Weight Loss

Cancer of the digestive system that is found inside the intestine and is considered deadly

Cancer which is related to the part of the digestive system where the waste materials are stored is generally termed as colon cancer. Rectum is also defined as the end part of the colon which is placed adjacent to the anus. Both the colon and the rectum form a long muscular tube known as the large intestine or large bowel.

Colon and rectum are the growth result of the inner wall of the large intestine and the benign tumor of this large intestine are largely called as polyps as it can easily be removed during colonoscopy and are not dangerous to the life.

It is also believed that the cancer of colon and rectum can damage the adjacent tissues and organs and also break away and spread to other parts of the body. This whole process is known as metastasis and this is unlikely to cure once it has occurred in colorectal cancer.

Some of the causes of colon cancer are high fat intake, family history of colorectal cancer and presence of polyps in the large intestine. Diets which are rich in fats is supposed to damage the cells of this colorectal cancer and the diets which are rich in vegetables and high fiber foods such as whole grain breads and cereals can minimize the growth of bowel of carcinogences and help in reducing the risk of cancer.

It is been observed that most colon cancer develops in colon polyps therefore by removing benign colon polyps can minimize and cut the growth of colorectal cancer. The colon polyp normally develops when chromosome damage is occurred in the cells along the inner lining of the colon. These chromosomes generally contains all the genetic information inherited from a parent and when these chromosomes are damaged growth of cells become uncontrolled which results in masses of extra tissue.

It is also observed that genetic background is an important factor in colon cancer risk even though of this fact colon cancers also occur sporadically in patients with no family history of colon cancer.
